CCS/CCUS Training Courses and Workshops

The high-level and seasoned consultants of A&A Consulting Team, who have been working on CO₂ projects, around the world, since the 1970s, have been providing state-of-the-art training on CCS/CCUS, CO₂ EOR, and other related topics, around the world, for many years. But 2021 generated unprecedent momentum behind CCS/CCUS projects, not only in the US, but around the world, and as a result demand for A&A customized training services, along with A&A state-of-the-art consulting services, on CCS/CCUS, CO₂ EOR, and other related topics, has skyrocketed. Therefore, these days, in addition to providing A&A clients, around the world, state-of-the-art consulting on their challenging CCS/CCUS, and related projects, A&A is providing them customized training on various CCS/CCUS topics. The following are five of A&A's most popular CCS/CCUS training courses/workshops these days:

(1) Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)/Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS)

This is an intermediate-level refresher training course that covers all aspects of CCS/CCUS. This course has been designed to bring A&A clients' professionals and managers up to speed on this very timely subject matter, and it can be customized further to meet the immediate needs of the client.

This course was originally developed for the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), at the request of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), in 2005, when the idea of storing CO₂ (CO₂ Sequestration) had not even entered into the vocabulary of the oil & gas industry professionals and managers. Since then, at the request of SPE, and the A&A clients, around the world, we have revised and updated this course several times to keep it up-to-date, and taught it many times, either in conjunction with the SPE conferences or in-house at A&A clients' offices, around the world. As of now, we have probably taught this course on CCS/CCUS and/or a complementary course on CO₂ EOR at least 26 times at about 16 locations around the world.

Usually our clients want us to teach this course in 2 days (four 4-hour sessions) to give the course instructors enough time to cover each topic in detail and also to give enough time to the course attendees to get answers/clarifications on all their questions, since this topic will be new to many of them. But we have also taught this course in one day (two 4-hour sessions), either in-person at clients' offices or live online, whenever requested by our clients.

(2) CCS Projects: Flow Assurance Aspects of Offshore CCS Projects

This is an intermediate-level refresher training course that covers all flow assurance aspects of offshore CCS projects. This course has been designed to bring A&A clients' professionals and managers up to speed on this very timely subject matter, and it can be customized further to meet the immediate needs of the client.

A&A teaches this course in two 4-hour sessions, either in-person at clients' offices or virtually, whenever mutally convenient. The class schedule permits plenty of time for Q/A sessions to enable the course attendees to get answers to all their questions.

This is an advanced-level training course that has been designed to bring A&A clients' well engineering professionals and managers up to speed on all (technical and regulatory/permitting) aspects of Class VI wells that are required for CO₂ injection in CCS/CCUS projects, and it can be customized further to meet the immediate needs of the client.

Many of our clients who presently have, or are planning to start, CO₂ EOR project operations prefer that we conduct a 4 to 5 days workshop on the topic of 'CCUS Projects: Practical Aspects of CO₂ Injection for EOR and Storage' for their professionals and managers. In this 4 to 5 days workshop (conducted in-person at our clients' offices, around the world) we devote about 2 to 2 1/2 days to discuss all practical aspects of CCUS, and the remaining time, about 2 to 2 1/2 days, to discuss all practical aspects of CO₂ EOR projects.
